This video makes one serious fault: All of the predictions are based on the information available
at the current time.

The Fact of the matter is, in 1800, a single acre
produced a different amount of food than a single acre in 1900, or in 2000. The predictions cannot
say what will happen to improve production.

In addition, the video ignores
the simple fact that the earth is a FINITE size... and therefore population MUST have an upper
limit, even if it is "standing room only."

So, "doing the math" is
disingenuous. For example:

According to Wikipedia, the total arable land of the earth
is 12 Million square miles, or 7.69 billion acres.

Current production of wheat is,
according to the US Dept of Agriculture, 25 bushels per acre. According to the US Dept of Health
and Human Services, one human being requires approximately 10 bushels of grains and legumes per
year. The DHHS also estimates that a human being requires 150 pounds of meat per year as well, but
the meat must be raised on some fraction of the arable acres. According to the DOA again, we can
expect to get an average of 600 pounds of meat from cattle, and you need 2.5 acres of land per
animal.

So, "do the math" and you'll see how many people this planet can
support... with current production.

Obviously, if something happens to
curtail production (for example, if oil did in fact run out), the production numbers would drop and
the math changes. Similarly, if something happens to make production increase (for instance
Star-Trek food replicators), then the math changes in the opposite direction.

/>The author of this video is disingenuous at best, and incapable of basic math at worst.
