Vietnam Veterans Against McCain

The group Vietnam Veterans Against McCain attacks Senator John McCain's heroism as a POW in the Vietnam conflict; this is making some waves in the news due to McCain's presidential candidacy. The documentary "Missing, Presumed Dead the Search for America's POWs" however focuses more on Senator John McCain successfully blocking the release of classified POW/MIA documents. Here is a DVD extra from that documentary.

First, the whole idea of MIA%u2019s and POW%u2019s at this point is absurd. They are all either dead
or speak excellent Vietnamese or Thai with their native families and friends. Saying that we could
have %u201Cforced%u201D Vietnamese to hand over the missing service men back in the 70%u2019s is
also absurd. We couldn%u2019t force the Vietnamese to hand over their country. What makes anyone
think we had any leverage on them after we pulled out?

However, the families of these
men certainly have a right to know what their government knows regarding their fates. But, the
government documents reflect badly on McCain, so he has been the primary obstruction in their
release.

In referring to those who sought deferments or ran away, you must mean Dick
Cheney, George W. Bush and most of the administration. Bush ran from Vietnam by getting a cushy
flyboy job in the guard and, when he became tired of the game, walked away from his commission to go
help Daddy%u2019s pal wage a political campaign. This is not only vile behavior which, as far as
I%u2019m concerned, by it self disqualified him from the Presidency%u2014or any government position.
It does qualify him for stockade time, if you ask me, along with some of his more recent crimes. />
By the way, you state that half of your (and my) generation ran away from the war, implying
that the other %u201Chalf%u201D fought it. Even with the draft, the percentage of Americans who
entered the service during the war period was very small relative to the population, or even
%u201Cour generation%u201D. Between 1960 and 1973 approximately 2.59 million served out of an
average US population of 200 million, say half of that men. (Note: 50,000 deserted during that
period. 40,000 have deserted so far during the Iraq war! So much for heroism!)

John
McCain is considered a %u201Chero%u201D for bombing people, including civilians, who were defending
THEIR country. This war, like Iraq, was justified by a lie. We now know that the famous Tonkin Gulf
%u201Cincident%u201D never occurred. Even if it had, the war would have still been a criminal
enterprise. It was fought supposedly to contain Communism, but was really just a continuation of
French imperialism and war profiteering by some of the same companies who are profiteering in Iraq.
At least John McCain paid for some of his crimes against the Vietnamese, but appears to have
collaborated with his captors. Where%u2019s the heroism in all this?

To wish that the men
who are exposing the truth about McCain should have to withstand the same treatment he got in the
war is just stupid and vile.

I am a Vietnam vet and I would love to be able to go back
and change that fact. If I had had the insight and courage to fight the war machine, then there
might have been some %u201Cheroism%u201D on my part. What the hell use is being a %u201Chero%u201D
in a criminal (which is pretty much all of them) war. We killed millions of Asians in that war, and
58 thousand plus Americans died so that American business can now get cheap products from a
%u201Cstable%u201D Communist government.

Finally, my advice to anyone who doesn%u2019t
appreciate this video and thinks war is for heroes is to stop jacking themselves off with fairly
tales and get some facts!

To focus all the failures of our government of the POW/MIA problems upon McCain is B.S.....We had
our chance in the 70s to force the NVA to come forth with answers, but walked away, with our tails
between our legs; That was due to the behavour of McCain's and my generation, the half that ran away
or hid behind deferments, while the other half of us went and fought in that rat hole of a
country.

These geeks above, look like my generation, who now come out and want to lay
this on McCain.....

I praise McCain for blowing the hell out of NVA troops &
installations in the north, knowing if he was shot down, he would be tortured with no end by those
animal communists!

I want to see these no-bodies above, except the first guy, endure
what McCain had to go thru!.....

It's about time someone posted a blast on here about
this video. How many of these guys fought the VC & NVA?..I'm surprised at Bob Dornan, but he never
was in combat!

God Bless McCain!...(A Trp.1/1st Cav, Americal Div, 68-69)
